Today is Akshayy Tritiya..

Akshayy means something which never diminishes..

This day marks new auspicious beginnings…

 It symbolizes eternal prosperity and abundance.

Should this eternal prosperity and abundance be measured only by the materialistic wealth?

Doesn’t prosperity also mean you being surrounded by your healthy family n friends, and this health earned through healthy food, healthy atmosphere…

And mind you, very minor habits of ours make our body strong from within; like

1.    Try to dress appropriate for the season. Wearing fit, black attire on a peak summer afternoon might make good fashion sense for someone, but it does not make sense for your body as well as for the environment. Such a dress will absorb more heat and you will consume more air conditioning to make yourself comfortable. Instead use loose, light coloured cotton clothes in summer as far as possible.


2.  Try to eat local n seasonal fruits n vegetables or grains. Not only are they are more fresh n nutritious, they need less preservatives, transport.

So watermelon in December?? No

Heavy fried items in summer?? No


3.   Avoid preparing excess food.  By cooking only what you need, you

Consume fresh and hence more nutritious food

Avoid food waste

Save energy which would be required to store, preserve the excess food and the energy required to reheat that food.


4.  Swap out artificially flavoured colas with natural fresh alternatives like lassi, buttermilk, Aam Panha, Nimbu Pani. These drinks will hydrate n nourish your body without harmful chemicals n preservatives found in the ‘Cool’ colas


5.   Look out for natural options for room freshener, body perfume etc. When you use commercial chemical perfumes, you inhale those strong chemicals released by them; doing more harm to your body in the name of fragrance.
